All Through The Night?

I sing in the shower. I resist the urge to do a little ‘soft-shoe’ around the tub, but I have no objections to cranking up the shower radio that Melle gave me and belting out whatever song happens to be playing on the station, even if I don’t know the words. The reception on said radio is surprisingly good, and I rarely have static interrupting my serenades of the neighbours.

As I showered today, I listened to the announcer talk about (whatever) and in the background, the Cyndi Lauper song “All Through the Night” started to play. I found this odd – my station is an “alternative rock” station, and Cyndi Lauper (as much as I adore her) is, well, not alternative OR rock. The song started to play without warning, so I waited for the announcer to segue into it, thinking perhaps they were going to mention her new ‘remix’ album. Instead, they cut to a commercial and the song kept playing in the background.

I twisted the dial slowly but surely, and after bypassing several stations, came across one that was playing the song – and it was at precisely the moment that it would have been on my station if I had continued to listen to the commercials. I kept the station on for the duration of the song (which, of course, I sang loudly) and then moved back to my regular station where there was no longer any overlapping of songs.

Clearly, Cyndi is trying to send me a message. Maybe I should dye my hair bright orange and get a ‘waffle cut’ into the side? That would certainly perk up my Thursday..
