    Because they had the misfortune to be born to parents who for whatever reason are unable or unwilling to do more than subsist in modern society.

    Forced sterilization is not ethical but it would be effective to some degree.

    Why? Because we allow it, and we make policies that make people suffer for deeply stupid reasons, because we live in a gutless society that’s apparently declared some people to be worthless.

    For the Ontario version see “Telling Tales: Living the Effects of Public Policy” by Sheila Neysmith et al. They followed 40 Ontario families through the late 90s (Mike Harris years) an interviewed them repeatedly. Lots of equally heartbreaking and fury-producing stuff there.
