In Conversation.

Coffee: I think smoking* would be the ideal way to eat hookers.

Me: Ha! Ha ha ha ha!

Coffee: Well, what would you suggest?

Me: I think I need to blog now.

(* as in turning into beef jerky.)

  1. A brief chat with my friend (and neighbour) Deb who saw me shoveling snow and popped over to say hello.
  2. Chicken noodle soup.
  3. Slowly but surely, my blog is becoming visible to people again.
  4. It’s the weekend.
  5. Lesbians.

Actually, that title kind of sums the whole thing up. I’ve got ownership of my domains again, the DNS has been updated, the files are on the new host, and now I’m just waiting for YOU to show up.

There are snacks over THERE and drinks over THERE and please don’t feed any of the treats to the dogs, ok?

And, Sylvain? Could you please refrain from wearing my lampshade on your head?

Aunt A.

The boys’ biological Aunt “A” is visiting us at the moment – she arrived yesterday and will be here until Sunday – and I am doing my best to stay out of the way while she and the boys hang out and play together and watch movies and chat.

This basically means that I’m sitting in my office hitting “refresh” on my domain transfer status page.

Not that I’m feeling twitchy or anything.

I pop out of the room to feed the dogs or make some food or do random “mom” thing like remind everyone to brush their teeth. Well, I don’t ask Aunt “A” to brush her teeth – I figure she’s got that habit down by this point.

She’s here to visit the boys, not me, so I refuse to get in the way. I’m also not letting her help with cooking, clean-up or any other tasks because, hello? She’s only here ’til Sunday.

The lovely thing is that the boys are happy – I hear a lot of laughter.

  1. The boys’ biological Aunt “A” arrived yesterday. They were thrilled to see her, she’s thrilled to see them, and once again I am glad Coffee and I decided to keep the boys in touch with their biological family to the extent that it’s possible. (And still confused as to why other people think it’s a horrible idea.)
  2. I am a REALLY bad hostess, but Aunt “A” isn’t here to see me, so it’s all good!
  3. Made pancakes for freezing this morning. Toaster pancakes!
  4. Sunshine in the window of my bedroom, in the basement, means spring is coming (don’t try to tell me otherwise!)
  5. My domain transfers are half-done and now I’m just waiting on the .ca domains to do their thing.
  1. Deep, powdery, fluffy snow is far superior to ice and hard crunchy stuff. And easier to shovel.
  2. As of this morning, the majority of my domains are under my control fully and, shortly, should all be pointing to the right host. (Which means you will SEE this!)
  3. Middle One took his birthday party invitations to school today. We worked on them together. They’re purple and in purple envelopes.
  4. The boys’ (biological) Aunt “A” is coming today and will stay ’til Sunday. The boys are happy that they’ll get to see her again.
  5. I may actually get a chance to shower today with my purple shower gel that smells like Grape KoolAid.
  1. The fact that I’m writing this and you can’t see it yet sort of tickles me. I feel like I’m on a covert operation over here!
  2. Talking to Coffee last night and having him totally humour my all-over-the-place ranting, raving, weepy face and laughter. And then feeling better for having expunged a little.
  3. Liquid Stitch fabric glue is really handy to keep around.
  4. Coffee shoveled some snow this morning so there’ll be less for me to shovel later – we’re expected to get about 15cms today.
  5. One of the boys’ aunts is coming to visit for a few days. It will be really good for them to see her, I think.

Narf.

This is the first post I’m writing on the new server. In fact, I’m writing it ahead of the time that the server is being moved!

So… when you DO see this, it’s on the new server.

And shortly after you see this, I will tell you all about my new host and how I got from A to B.

Ta-freakin’-da!

Hosting Change.

I’m in the midst of moving my domains to a new host which will, in all likelihood, involve some down time in the next few days. With any luck, it’ll be easy peasy and no one will even notice.

But, with my luck, it’ll be three days of angst and teeth-gnashing, so, y’know, may be we can aim for middle ground on this?

I’m moving for a few reasons, the biggest of which is simply: money. I’m hosting this domain, my old domain and the domain of my dearly departed friend Deb, and the cost just got prohibitive for something that’s ultimately frivolous.

My friend Jenn really loves her hosting company and, after some investigation, I’ve decided to move over to them. Here’s hoping I love them, too, because I’ve been somewhat spoiled by having good quality hosting through a friend’s company for many years.

Anyway, I figured I should forewarn you that things may go a bit wonky in the near future so no one would panic. Like I will be. Heh.

  1. Fresh, cold, water.
  2. Being ridiculously productive before 8 a.m.
  3. Face The Pain” by Stemm – aka “TUF music”
  4. Cracking myself up. I do it more often than you’d think.
  5. The kitten likes to attack the beagle and inspire a game of chase. And then, once all is calm, she does it AGAIN.
