Grace In Small Things – 65/365

(Only 300 more to go! Ha!)

  1. The city’s tree-trimming crew came and removed the ugly yellow rope that’s been hanging from a high limb on one of our trees since before we moved in. We haven’t been able to get it down for a variety of reasons (one being that we don’t own a ladder that’s tall enough to get up to the rope). I’m really glad that it’s gone.
  2. Although I am feeling “off” and not quite perfect, I seem to be avoiding the plague that everyone else has at the moment. Huzzah for hand-washing!
  3. Replacing my tiny-holed strainer thingie so I can rinse my quinoa without pretending I’m MacGuyver.
  4. Rediscovering old music that I love as I reorganize our mp3 collection.
  5. It’s not Monday. Happy Hump Day Everyone!!

Poor Mr. Rope. He was so happy up there, watching over the neighborhood. He was excited when the boys came. He liked watching them play in the yard, the sun shining on him, the wind helping him dance around with joy.

..and now he’s in a dark, loud, cramped truck hurtling toward the city dump. He’s a bit scared but, being the sunshiny-yellow rope, he’s also a bit hopeful that perhaps he’s going to see more of the world than he did from his vantage point in the tree. As the truck slows, his hopes will begin to dim and he’ll start to feel a peculiar sensation in his body – one he’s never felt before – and he’ll quietly whisper, “So this is what it feels like to lose hope…”

          YOU started it, mister!

But, there’s good news! They didn’t take the rope – it’s on the sidewalk out front! Yay!

You two are very strange. If you continue like this, I shall find myself at the end of my rope.

So… were you washing your quinoa with shavings from a tenspeed bicycle and some gum? Wouldn’t that of been really explosive?

Actually yes, I have had it. I believe Kelly made a wonderful dish once and introduced me to Quinoa. The dish was very yummy.

I can only convince the kids to eat the ‘white’ quinoa and not the red. No clue why – but Maymo won’t even TRY the red. He calls the white “my favourite corn, mom!” which I also don’t understand.

There is much about children that I do not understand.
