Let’s say that you’re me and you’ve found a degree program that actually makes your little heart shout, “OHMYGOD!” instead of “Eh, I could do that…but..eh.

And let’s say that this degree, were you to complete it, would allow you to be qualified to find a job that you’d really enjoy doing.

Let’s say, too, that you have three little boys at home who suck away every drop of money you can spare and that putting money away for things crazy things like retirement and keeping the house from falling down are your other priority.

And, while we’re saying things, let’s also note that your husband’s income is too much to allow you to qualify for any (?) student loans and definitely too much for loans like OSAP.

But you’re looking at the degree information and you’re thinking, “Wow, that’s.. just.. wow. Ideal! That’s ME!”

How would you attempt to make it happen?

(Note that selling the children or feeding them only cereal is not an option..)

Some schools have payment plans, so that’s one option. Sure, you’d get it paid of in a trillion years, but you’d have a career option you loved!

Depending on the degree and your past grades, you might be able to get a grant or scholarship.

I know at some schools you can get part-time work, for instance, adjunct teaching study skills or working in the writing lab, and get discounts on the courses you take.

Those are my ideas for you. My personal method isn’t applicable given that 80% of my education, both undergrad and grad, was paid for by the military.

Depends… what’s the degree? Where is it offered? Is it only offered full-time? Can you do parts of it via distance education? Do you have a spare closet with good ventilation where you could put a grow light? Do you own the trademarks for the Mr. Rope franchise that you could cash in on? Am I digressing?

hello, line of credit! you don’t have any minimum payments, only the interest comes out automatically… and low rates (ours is 3%!). education is always an investment! especially when it’s something that you will love love love!

Tee hee! If the OCTOMOM can do it, I’m sure you can too! LOL

Uh, no, now back to reality. I would suggest night courses? Or I guess if the kids are all in school full time and you do have your days free, then a loan or or a remortgage or whatever are the only sensible options.

I went back to school TWICE as an adult, and for the ACZ trucking, I got a bank loan and for the computer sci, I lucked out and got EI. But I also worked in both cases. I’ve always had to work while I was in school. School costs money, and mostly, you get money from working.

Oh I love this idea! Great one. Way better than the naked baking webcam thing. Because, you know, you don’t have to bake or be naked and stuff.
