Grace In Small Things – 101/365

  1. Two of my kids think I’m awesome. This is good. :)
  2. My “Lady Music” mix of all-female bands and singers.
  3. I have my hair dye, bleach and a hairnet ready for action!
  4. Middle One is printing up flyers to offer his “yard help” services to the neighbours. He was going to charge $0.25 per hour but I convinced him to go with $2. I am so proud of him for going for it – and I really hope a neighbour or two will hire him to help out.
  5. I seriously love the library. I mean, really, really, really love it. Best invention EVER.

For $2/hour I’ll totally hire him! We’ve got a mount of dirt that needs to be converted into a garden bed.

He’d need a lot of guidance, and he’s only 9, but he’d totally do it if you wanna’ hire him! :)

The 19yr old next door to me wants $30 to cut my lawn. (takes about 1/2 hour) $2 is a steal, even if he does need a lot of guidance.

So that would only be $14 to get him down and back, plus $1 to cut… half price!

Well, he is only 9 and he isn’t particularly strong. This limits the jobs he can do, of course, and I had to talk to him about what’s appropriate and what isn’t (regardless of pay). As he noted, he’s not big enough to mow a lawn or use a leaf-blower – but he can rake and he can hold open or help fill yard bags, he can sweep, etc. He also knows that, at 9, he’s not fast enough to charge a huge amount of money – but by next summer, when he’s bigger and has experience, he can charge even more and do more tasks!

I’m just so totally impressed with him taking the initiative.

$30 each TIME!! If it rains a lot I would be screwed. I am still negotiating. What I want is a set monthly price, and he just keeps it cut. The problem with the “per time” price is that I am worried he will cut it even when it doesn’t need it, just cause he wants to the cash. My way could work for him, if we have a dry summer it could need cutting less and he still gets paid.
