- The Hunter in the family (as opposed to the proverbial Gatherer) got up early and brought home donuts. Cinnamon Twists!
- Connecting with someone I was never really connected with other than in stories from my childhood. The world is very small and very large sometimes!
- Spring means the toads are gettin’ it on, the robins are gettin’ it on, the insects are gettin’ it on and.. this lowly blog writer is too! Huzzah for Spring!
- Choosing, consciously, what I want in my life and what I do not.
- The tulip tree on our house is bursting into bloom and it looks like this year will be even more bountiful than previous. Awesome!

This entire horoscope here kind of blew my mind. Huh.
I know. I’m back to my Britney Spears addiction. Yeah.
(But it’s such a nice song!)
- Maymo’s insistence on sniffing every single container of shower gel to ‘help’ me pick the one I want. Conveniently, I, too, require the sniff-testing of every bottle.
- The snorting-snorking noises the dogs make when they’re rolling around on the ground to scratch their own backs. I like to help them out from time to time, of course, but I also really enjoy seeing them kicking their feet in the air and grunting. Heh.
- WEEEEEEEEEEEEKEND!!! Time to relax and laugh more and sleep later.. rawr!
- A project that Coffee was working on last night worked out perfectly! Yay!
- Oldest One making an effort. Again.
This is really, really, really long. And probably filled with typos. Consider yourself forewarned..
As I was writing my essay yesterday, describing why I want – and should be permitted – to be a part of the Social Services Worker program, I started thinking about support systems and my experiences with them.
Maymo’s class alternates between “outdoor activity” and “gym” depending on the day of the week. On “outdoor” days, the school’s French teacher comes to collect the kids. Maymo simply calls her “Madame” or “Mrs. Madame”.
Other than his contact with Madame, he’s not really learning French formally in school yet. I’m pretty sure it’s part of the curriculum in Grade 1, but it’s not part of Kindergarten.
Having said that, Maymo thinks French is GREAT. In fact, it’s SO GREAT that he can already speak it quite fluently (in his mind, at least).
Maymo has had “language issues” his whole life – he can be very unclear when he’s speaking and, at times, we still have to ask him to repeat himself before we know exactly what he’s saying.
Now we’re having a NEW adventure.
Me: How was your day at school today?
Maymo: Mrrfrew nog gooola!
Me: I’m sorry, what?
Maymo: Nog gooola nooogie oogie!
Me: What are you saying?
Maymo: MOM, IT’S FRENCH FOR ‘I HAD A GREAT DAY!’
Me: I don’t think that’s French.
Maymo: YES IT IS. Do you know how we say ‘hello’ in French?
Me: Sure, it’s Bonjour!
Maymo: No, it’s Norka-orka Boo!
Me: No, see, that’s not really a word that you’re saying, it’s sort of.. some sounds.. you’re putting together.. kind of.
Maymo: Do you know what ‘zoofa magoola‘ means?
Me: No, because I don’t think that’s..
Maymo: IT’S FRENCH. IT MEANS CHICKEN BUTT! HAHAHAHAHAHA
Me: No, that’s not French.
Maymo: MAYBE!
Me: No, French is just like English. There are words that mean things and then there are just.. sounds.. and those don’t mean anything. You could always ask Madame to help you learn words if you like, and you can ask me if you want to know how to say..
Maymo: LOOLA! OOLA! OBAGABBA! That means ‘I can speak French Mom’!!!
Me: I… sure. Say, what’s that over there?
(The best part? He has a REALLY convincing French accent going on while he’s muttering fake words.)
Somehow it slipped my mind that Spring is not just the season where I’m all giddy and the sun is shining and the weather is beautiful.
I managed to forget that this is also the season where the dogs insist on going outside, then barking to come back in, then whining to go outside, then barking to come in, then whining to go outside, then barking to come back in, then whining to go outside, then.. you get the picture.
Grrrrrrrrrrrr!
If we didn’t have neighbours, I’d be tempted to boot the little hairy beasts outside at 8 a.m., and leave ‘em out there ’til midnight.
- Last night, as I crawled into bed, it was unbelievably blissful to curl up under my duvet and put my head on my pillow.
- Grape jelly on toast.
- Ice cold water in an awesome new glass (made from recycled glass!).
- I have awesome friends. Like you!
- Wearing running shoes. They feel particularly good after wearing high heels for a few hours yesterday.
(Man, I love someecards.)
- My college experience today was positive.
- I seriously felt all the love sent in my direction. Thank you.
- Maymo didn’t miss me for even a second today. Yay for good childcare!
- Fuzzy dog bellies.
- My hair fits into a teensy-tiny ponytail. This amuses me.
