Grace In Small Things – 216/365

  1. This morning, while driving Coffee to work, I saw a wiener dog running (on leash) across the street. I laughed so hard that I couldn’t see the road through my own tears. BEST DAY EVER!
  2. Wiener dogs, in general, are the best invention EVER.
  3. Air conditioning. We’re going to need it today, I believe.
  4. An “air sponge” in the playroom so it will stop smelling like goat. Gah, boys are smelly creatures when they’re leaping around playing on the Wii or xbox or whatever.
  5. It’s way more fun to play with the kitten when she’s wearing Soft Paws and can’t eviscerate my arm.

Um. I just cut my cats claws? Like once a week. It takes two minutes a cat, simply because they’re semilonghairs and I need to look for the blasted claw to not cut the pulp.

How is she going to do her instinctual scratching on her scratching post if she’s wearing soft paws? *confused and sceptical*

She can very easily claw at things – and does! – she just doesn’t do any damage. We trim her claws and then glue these over. Even with trimmed nails, she was doing a lovely job of clawing things she shouldn’t AND getting caught on window screens and the like.

Aha! Thanks for the explanation. :) There is one point in time when I’d like to have Soft Paws. When my 14 pound cat lands on me in the mornings and then milkpaddles on my naked chest. That. Fucking. Hurts.

When people ask why I have 3 doxies, I just smile, because I have discovered the secret to true happiness. Each morning, before I go to work and face the masses, I have the weiner dogs run for me, back! and forth! to the back door. They get TREATS! for RUNNING! And each and every morning I get to laugh and feel ok about the world for just a few moments.

Oh yeah, those sponge things are great. I used to use one in the rat room…’cause no matter how often you change the litter, rat pee x 9 rats makes a room smell like rat pee.
