Yesterday I posted about my love for glass straws. Glass Dharma, the company that makes them, noticed a bunch of you clicking through to their site and then they started following me on Twitter. Noticing them following me, I sent a quick message asking if they’d mind doing a give-away here, on my blog, for my readers. David, the owner of the company, happily offered up 4 straws.
(Yay!!)
You can win a glass straw of your very own!!
If you’d like to win, leave a comment on this post telling me why. That’s it – just tell me why you’d like a glass straw of your very own, why you think it’s a good idea, why you’re curious..
Your comment needs to have your real email address (though it won’t appear on the site, I can see it behind the scenes) and, if you win, you’ll have to be comfortable providing me – and Glass Dharma – with a shipping address for your straw.
On Sunday night I’ll pick 4 winners – using a random number generator – and get in touch with you for shipping information.
Now, tell me why you want a glass straw..
-
I want a glass straw because I want to FINALLY drink out of a straw that doesn’t pop up out of my glass of pop!!!!
-
I want a glass straw because I don’t like the plastic ones (environmentally unfriendly and they always crack at the bends), because I wouldn’t be able to use a metal one (my grandma served us drinks in these steel cup thingies as a kid and it always weirded me out), and because I like the idea that the weight would keep them in the glass, but the carbonation bubbles would look cool stuck to the sides.
-
I would very much like to win a glass straw because I love straws and think glass straws are a very spiffy idea. :)
-
I would love glass straws. They would add to my green kitchen. Just bought some cloth napkins at a garage sale too.
-
I would like some because I have kids. Additionally, my wife makes smoothies for lunch and cleaning most other reusable straws – especially with a banana-based drink – is damned near impossible.
-
I would love a glass straw because I hate plastic one use items but love drinking from straws because cold liquids hurt my teeth. Plus glass is just freaking cool.
-
I would love a glass straw for my 10-year-old daughter to use. She loooooves to use straws but I hate to waste the plastic so usually I don’t buy any. A reusable glass one is a great idea!
-
I want a glass straw because I still can’t get my mind around it and would like to see it for myself.
-
Because free is cool. And I like to try new things to live greener.
-
Because I’m your prettiest Swedish reader, and I’d never ever buy something from overseas. So if I get one, I can do awesome comercials for them over here on the other side of the pond. Then all of my friends will want some and they’ll become the Next Big Thing.
See? It’s all good if I get one.
-
Well, we have tried plastic straws, stainless steel straws, and the glass ones sound intriguing. We ditched our disposable straws out of concern for the environment and excessive waste!
-
Four glass straws?!
I would love them – equally. I know some people said that they think their kids would really get a lot of enjoyment out of them. My kids probably would too.
To be honest, I wouldn’t even tell my kids I had them. Or, if I was feeling particularly unkind, I might sit in front of them drinking some water with a glass straw that “NO” they couldn’t even touch.
I don’t even drink pop. If you heard me telling my kids that water is my favourite thing to drink you’d probably think I was just lying so they’d drink more water. Water is my favourite thing to drink.
Water and glass are both transparent. OK translucent – but think of the synergies!!
Ack! Sorry about the s- word there. I’ve had a bit too much of the grigio tonight. I would drink that with a glass straw too (if no one could see me).
I would love them. Probably not in a clean and pure way but more in a covetous and downright evil way.
Pick me!

I’d love a glass straw! I adore pretty kitchen items and I use more straws than any one person should!
-
oooh… I would LOVE some of these glass straws! What a great idea! The bumpy ones excite me somehow….. LOL!
anyway… ya…. I love the whole environmentally friendly thing and I want to be fancy schmancy around my friends. They drink a lot. And they would go out and buy lots of these straws. So they could be fancier and schmancier than me. Ya. Pick Me ;) -
I would love to win some glass straws! Then I wouldn’t have to pick up the ones that blow out of my blue bin and end up on my front lawn every thursday! Thanks for the chance at a cool contest!

I love things made from glass–it’s a material that is always moving and changing even if you don’t notice it. Plastic straws are a huge waste-especially in north america where the fast food trend just won’t die. I never have any straws in my house-so a single glass straw just for me would be cool.
-
I want one because I love straws in certain beverages (like smoothies) but can’t bear to use disposables because I don’t want to go through a lot of plastic waste. I love the idea of the glass ones–they seem a lot cleaner than other reusable options, and they don’t leach any nasty stuff into my food. Super cool!

I would love a glass straw because I have to use straws due to swallowing problems and it’d be great to have a reusable one so that I waste less plastic!
-
I use at least one straw every day. Help me to become more “green”! Please? Seriously, I would be the envy of all my sisters if I had one…..
-
I love smoothies. I dislike the weird greasy feeling of plastic straws and I really don’t like how you can’t really clean them without wondering if stuff is caught inside them or if they’re leeching bpa into my drink. And I don’t like buying something that only has one use… So I’m stuck drinking smoothies without a straw and that really takes most of the fun out of the entire experience.
If I had a glass straw, however, I could enjoy the 100% awesomeness of the smoothie experience.

I can’t tell time so my last post, as lovely as I feel glass straws are, seems to be ineligible for the draw. I should really read more than once per week, yes?
