Grace In Small Things – 358/365

  1. I have tidied up the house a bit. This makes my brain feel less cluttered, too.
  2. I am trying to stay one step ahead of my sore throat. Lots of water. Vitamin C. ColdFX. Prayer..
  3. Despite pulling an entire tray of homemade cinnamon rolls off of the counter and eating it, the beagle has not (yet) exploded in a storm of buttery shit. (But, oh god, the sounds coming from her belly..THE SOUNDS!)
  4. I think I will get to hug Coffee when he gets home tonight. I may cling to him like a koala for a few hours, at least.
  5. The kindness of both friends and veritable strangers is.. amazing.

My mini schnauzer once managed to get herself onto the kitchen counter and eat 30 chocolate chip cookies. Thankfully, the cookies were from a mix, so the chips were of the ‘chocolately’ variation, so she survived.

But, a 20 lb dog eating 30 cookies? Do the math. I’m surprised she survived. Her belly was so distended that she couldn’t squeeze herself under the couch, which is what clued us in to the missing cookies.

Why is it beagles think with their stomachs? A friend’s beagle once ate a pound of sesame seeds. Another beagle I knew could open the fridge door and could eat anything he could reach.
