Admittedly, I wasn’t looking forward to my birthday – I was chock full of ennui. I think it happens because my Dad’s birthday is a few days before mine, I miss him, and then I feel rather “meh” about my own celebration. At any rate, I’d have very happily canceled my own birthday this year.
I’m glad I didn’t. There were many good things on my birthday this year!
- I slept late and woke up feeling like I slept well!
- Coffee took me shoe shopping. The guy who wears flip-flops almost exclusively took me shopping for non-flip-flops and didn’t roll his eyes even once.
- I found the Birkenstock shoes that I had fallen in love with a few years ago - in black!
- And now I also own a new pair of running shoes! FANCY SHOES!
- We had sushi for lunch!
- Kelly and Sylvain stopped by to visit!
- Purple Jesus!
- Really good Birthday Sex.
- Hot Tub Time Machine. I cannot believe this movie exists. Awesome.
- Playing a zillion rounds of Tetris on the PS2.
- About 40 kabillion “Happy Birthday!” wishes on Facebook.
- All the various emails wishing me a happy birthday made me smile. Ditto for blog comments!
- The sun was shining.
- Laughter and plenty of it.
- I am loved. Really and truly loved.
- Feeling pretty darned good about being 35.

It was great seeing you! Sorry we could only stay 10 minutes. The three hour drive back home was looming.
