How do you like your eggs?
I like Coffee Ommie Sammiches – which are sort of like an omelette stuck between two slices of buttered toast. Alternately, I like scrambled eggs. I do not like egg yolks, so they have to be mixed in if I’m going to eat them. (I eat only the whites when I do hard boiled eggs)

How do you take your coffee/tea?
I don’t drink tea very often – but when I do, it really depends on the type of tea. Sometimes plain, sometimes with sugar, sometimes with honey+lemon, etc. When I drink coffee I like it was lots of milk and sugar – in a very, very large mug with a (glass!) straw.

Favorite breakfast food?
I have a smoothie every morning – comprised of juice, flax oil, oat bran, protein powder, frozen berries (cherries, if I can get ’em) and milk.

Peanut butter: Smooth or crunchy?
Crunchy, definitely. Smooth just tastes weird to me.

What kind of dressing on your salad?
All of them, really, depending on the sort of salad. I like plain oil+vinegar dressings but I also like the creamy-whatevers types.

Coke or Pepsi?
I like one Coke, on ice, at Christmas time. Otherwise I’m not really “into” the colas much. I used to have a wicked addiction to Diet Coke, however, and even now I crave McDonald’s Diet Cokes because I’m pretty sure they contain actual crack.

You’re feeling lazy, what do you make?
Coffee does most of the cooking lately, so me being lazy doesn’t mean much. At lunch, however, I’ll eat a toasted sandwich most days because it’s easy and quick.

You’re feeling really lazy. What kind of pizza do you order?
We have pizza on Friday nights – during the summer, we order it so we don’t have to cook it in the oven. I always order my pizza with BBQ sauce (instead of pizza sauce), spinach, red onion and hot Italian sausage. Mozzarella on top!

You feel like cooking. What do you make?
If I’m cooking because I feel like it, as opposed to needing to cook dinner for the family because Coffee isn’t doing it for some reason, it’ll likely be something new and interesting that I find online. I don’t really have a ‘signature dish’, though I do have a bunch of recipes for things like Carrot Ginger Soup that I really like making.

Do any foods bring back good memories?
Pierogies remind me of my grandparents.

Do any foods bring back bad memories?
Not really, no.

Is there a food you refuse to eat?
There are foods that I don’t like – for example, mushrooms – but I don’t really refuse to eat them. I’d just prefer not to because what’s the point in eating something you don’t like?

What was your favorite food as a child?
I don’t remember. I mean, I had food quirks – I went through a period where I put BBQ sauce on absolutely everything. I loved Mac n Cheese. Cottage cheese was a favourite for a bit. I loved cucumbers and pickles. Junk food, of course.

Is there a food that you hated as a child but now like?
I hated meat, generally speaking, and butter/margarine. Didn’t like a lot of vegetables on their own (as in, I liked to eat them covered with salad dressing or mixed into a casserole – and now I like to eat a lot of veggies just as they are).

Favorite junk food?
It varies – right now I’m all about Oreo Cakesters. And ice cream!

Do you have any weird food habits?
Given the choice to eat with my hands, I will – this includes things like salads. I prefer to pick things apart layer-by-layer and I also really prefer to eat things in sequence (all the peas first, then the carrots, then the meat – for example). I try to avoid indulging my weird food habits in front of the kids, though.

Favorite dessert?
It totally depends on a variety of factors. Cupcakes are always good and so is ice cream. I like pecan pie a lot, too. Cake is awesome. Cheesecake is even better.
