Well, Are You?

I wasn’t much in the spirit, but after last night, I’m pretty close to it. Some people like surprises. Then there’s those other people :)

I am enjoying the heck out of this season with a heavy emphasis on “as defined by me.” I am not exchanging gifts, putting up a tree, going to any religious service or listening to any special music. However, I am enjoying the cold weather, looking so forward to our first good snow, gazing at the beautiful light displays all over town, savouring hot chocolate in the mornings and egg nog in the evenings. I showed my students how to make paper snowflakes and then decorated the hall where we will all gather tomorrow for a holiday-themed lesson. I enjoyed decorating our door, too. I love cherry picking my way through what was once a very stressful time of year for me.

My husband has been sick in bed for the past few days and my children have been running around the house all Lord of the Flies while I was out on a photo shoot. I have not wrapped anything. I’m not even sure I HAVE everything. So….meh. But, tomorrow is the day we do our celebrating so let’s hope I catch the spirit by then.
