It drives me crazy when people type “Wa-la!” instead of “voila!” or “voilà”.
(I can accept it with or without the accent – I just cannot handle WA-LA! Related, do you know about this site?)

Too funny! I am clearly doing something wrong in parenting my 14YO daughter, because she said Wa-la the other day and I spent about 10 minutes telling her why that was SO WRONG!!! It’s all I can do when I see it in someone’s FB status not to say something, but I do restrain myself. Glad it’s not just me. :)

That site allows you to click on any of the characters and it will automatically put it in your clipboard – so you can paste it into your email, Word document, blog post, etc. So, instead of hunting around for a way to put a sunshine image (like this: ☼ ) into your blog comment, you can just go there and click one and paste it!
It is unrelated to the peeve but it is related to the accent/no-accent issue.

Wa-la is so wrong that it short circuits my brain and I don’t see it any more. Which is probably a good thing, given the intense rage I get when I see people complaining about “loosing” a game.

Oh, Pinterest is FULL of the “wala” nonsense and it drives me batty.
